January has always felt like a gift to me. Not asleep - just gently re-stocking.
Taking Stock in the Quiet
January is when I slow down, journal, make notes, and prepare. While I’ve never been a strict keeper of resolutions, I love dreaming - quietly and without judgment. And while I won’t beat myself up if I don’t reach every dream, I do believe that if I don’t dream at all… how will I ever go anywhere?
December Surprises
December held a few lovely surprises. Deep House saw a beautiful boost in Amazon sales over the holidays, and I found myself signing and gift-wrapping more copies than I’d expected. Each order - whether gifted or kept - brought a warm, quiet joy that simply says: keep going.
Listening Before the Next Step
As the new year opens, I’m holding Deep House with curiosity and care. I’ve applied for a research grant that would allow me to dive deeper into the history and folklore that inspired the story. Whether that journey leads to a sequel, a prequel, or something entirely unexpected, it feels like the right moment to listen - to gather and see where the creative path leads.
“Listening, before the next step.”
New Year’s Curiosities
This year, I’m looking forward to connecting with other writers, stepping a little further from my quiet creative bubble, and seeing what happens when conversations unfold. I don’t have a fixed plan - just openness, a notebook, and the willingness to follow curiosity.
Under another pen name, I also have two children’s books arriving later this year - a completely different corner of imagination that I’m enjoying visiting slowly, without rush.
Letting January Be What It Wants
For now, I’m letting January be reflective, calm, and full of possibility.
Thank you for reading, for listening, and for sharing this quieter moment before the year gathers its pace. I’m so glad you’re here.
